KITCHEN REMODEL - make cooking a remarkable experience.

Remodeling your kitchen is one of the largest investments you can make in your home. Knowing when the right time is to remodel will come down to cost, how long the remodel will take, and the disruption to your family routine. Kitchens are one of the most frequented zones in the home - families go into their kitchens five to six times per day. That's 2,190 times per year!

A practical guide on updating your kitchen is about every 10 to 15 years for the health and hygiene of your family. Head Designer and project manager at Georgia In Home Services, Riaan Garforth-Venter says, "on average, a kitchen remodel costs about $150 per square foot. Many homeowners spend between $150 to $250 per square foot. Many of the costs are about choices on the quality of materials or changing the layout with new electrical plug points or additional plumbing points."

Once your budget is in place, choose a timeframe when the house is less busy, for instance when the kids are away at camp. The best prep work is to update yourself with the many innovations in the kitchen industry - google and save your likes and dislikes for future use.  Be sure to make note of new structural materials on the market that offer durability and less maintenance, as well as complete stainless-steel workstations that are hygienic and easy to clean.

Gone are the days of having a short backsplash behind your kitchen sink. Today's trend is to have a backsplash that goes all the way to the ceiling by extending your countertop quartz. Custom drawers are also trending, featuring a pull-out drawer with separate bins for waste, recycling, and kitchen compost. This a great way to help your family become more environmentally aware. How about designating one drawer for mail and personal items, with an in-drawer charging station for smartphones and other mobile devices?

Kitchen Islands can also be deep enough to include a bookshelf on the side for your cookbooks. And then there's that idea of a separate small fridge for champagne, or wine. Ultimately, form and function must go hand in hand with your new design. Riaan feels "remodeling an existing kitchen is a good decision - there are so many things we can do to bring your kitchen into the new age!"

Most families are serious about their kitchen, knowing it is a gathering place where memories are seasoned with love. Give Georgia in Home Services a call and create a warm and inviting kitchen.
